David Small, a lawyer and professor at Canterbury University in Christchurch, says it's a question of what's reasonable in a country where guns are important for hunting and pest control. "There is nothing reasonable about owning a gun whose main purpose is self-defense," he says.

So after the death toll at the second mosque was reduced because a victim fired back with a self defense weapon, this lawyer thinks it would have been preferable if the victim had been unarmed against the murderer.

Backwards thinking... We all know that criminals top priority is to comply with the law...

So between New Zealand and the Netherlands, there's going to be an international push for gun control in all member nations by the U.N.

Just wait and see... Time to order in those 80% lowers, parts kits, ammo and components. As much as the budget will allow...

Turns out the victim didn't fire on the murderer but hucked the murderers own shotgun towards him like a spear. It was badazz effort on the victims part. He did save lives.

Had a back & forth on the net last night with a guy convinced only the police had stopped mass shootings. I gave him a few examples of civilians confronting and stopping the threat. Usually by the shooter killing himself or other examples where police failed to act quickly.

These people do not want to have a conversation. They want you in jail as an enemy of the state. They call police facist pigs unless they are confiscating guns.

I am sure NZ band the massacre not because it was horrible to watch. They don't want people to become enlightened and demand their right to self protection.

True, but there already is (and has been).

(several articles - or just search 'UN 2030')...

You're right though that there will be more prodding for *America* to comply with it. It's one way for something we consider that trumps all other (at least secular) laws, which is the Constitution, to be itself trumped by 'global law'. The enlightened thinking is that we should lead from behind, to show the rest of the world how to get it done... since we're the cause of all ills in the world, even ones thousands of miles away.

"This doesn't happen in other countries".

Oh, my favorite argument ("this doesn't happen in other countries"). Other countries have figured everything out, apparently. Make me wonder why everyone is still trying to come here.

Nice little tidbit to share with gun grabbers: The Netherlands has over 500 deaths per year from bicycle accidents, many of these children, The reason? There is no helmet law. The Dutch don't want a helmet law either.
