If you flip the cylinder open, is there nothing on the frame behind it to indicate model?

The model number should be on the frame under barrel forcing cone when cylinder is open . Mdl - __ .Being a .357 stamped on barrel could be a Model 19 .

I'm thinking the same thing, sure looks like a Model 19 to me, an older one, pinned and recessed.

I bought a 19-2 a couple years ago in similar condition for $400.
