You correctly identified it as theatrics. I was actually disappointed when no Executive Orders were announced to ban guns. Not because I wanted any guns banned, but because it was repeated so many times on this forum, I almost started to believe that's coming, and that will give us that final push to start a revolution :D

Although we all know that an EO declaring an outright ban would have been a VERY tall order Constitutionally speaking, with the audacity of this President it wouldn't have surprised me if he had at least tried it. I can't confirm it, but I "hear" the speech he gave wasn't the original one he had prepared, but had to go with the "plan B" because of all the push-back from constituents. But that is rumors on the wind, and I take that for what its worth.

As for that "push start" for revolution... I've been in countries that were in the throws of bloody civil war and believe me... you DO NOT want to see it first hand, ESPECIALLY in your own home country.

The Geography of Hate - Richard Florida - The Atlantic

This article demonstrates the point I was driving at. Im not saying that everyone who votes Republican is a racist, or even voted against Obama is a racist. But I'd say just about every person who was racist of black people in the country either voted for McCain in 08 or Romney in 2012.

Really? So everyone who voted for Obama BECAUSE he's black is a racist too, yes? You know it, and I know it, that there are PLENTY of folks who did for that very reason, so they MUST be racist too. Racism is racism is racism... its repugnant in any case, and ESPECIALLY repugnant when used as a political tool for division of the electorate.

brilliant mistake - Most Hate by State

800px-US_Election04-08shift_zps65359c3b.png

The states that voted more heavily Republican in 2008 all tend to be listed as states where there is a high amount of hate groups per capita in each state listed in the top link. Definitely a correlation between hate groups and states that voted against Obama.

I think blacks have historically voted Democratic, even when the Democrat was white. Actually the racists use to be in the Democratic party, up til the civil rights act of 1964. Strom Thurmann, Jesse Helms and David Duke were all originally either segregationists, or racists and were also all originally Democrats, but they switched parties to the Republicans after the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Jesse Helms did a long filibuster against the creation of today, MLK day, and Strom Thurmann did a long filibuster against the CRA of 1957, rail roading that act for a good 7 years. It wasn't but 60 years ago or so that Emitt Till got lynched in Mississippi which is well within some people on this forum's lifetimes.

Trent Lott had to give up his position as Senate Minority leader by saying the country would be better off under Strom THurmann's run for President as recently as 2002. He gave up his position because it was well known that Strom Thurmann was running on keeping blacks in a 2nd class citizenry position across the country through Jim Crow laws.

edit: Also the Republican's since atleast Nixon, have ran successfully with the "Southern Strategy". Actually it was Barry Goldwater who pioneered it, but it was to take in the racists from the bible belt southern states with open arms into the Republican party. This was a successful strategy for winning Presidential elections somewhat consistently all the way up til 2008. It's finally backfiring on them as demographic changes are having more minorities make up a much larger portion of the electorate.

"But I'd say" There are no more racists than liberal its all they can talk about and you are just like them. Distraction and meaningless. Ya lets all believe a liberal based article from Socialist Canada I know if its on the internet its got to be true just ask honest Abe.

Where did we find these "FACTS" as I see other people calling them. It looks like their is really no proof either way....So lets choke up the website where you found these because a right leaning page can make up "facts" just like a left leaning page can...
Exactly right tacticalinsertion. There is no evidence to validate any of 2506's statements yet he writes "FALSE" at the end of each diatribe like he has actually proven something - LOL. Common sense would suggest that trlsmn's post is accurate when you examine how these families live, vote, and raise their children.

Along these lines, I have met many intelligent liberals but I have NEVER met a wise one so we can not expect them to understand these issues. It does not matter how much common sense or evidence is laid at their feet, they will not (or can not) understand. Anyone who tries to debate a democrat in American today is "spitting in the wind." Think about this; Obama clearly stated that he would try to implement gun control during his presidency yet people voted for him anyway stating; "He won't actually do it." My question is then; "why would you vote for any moron who shows such a serious lack of judgement to begin with?" lastly, if I ran my family household finances exactly the same way this inept person is running this countries finances, you would think me an idiot yet people defend this bozo as he is writing checks we may never be able to cash. I have just about lost hope for this country when it appears that more than 50% of our citizens have no wisdom, discernment or character.

Who cares I don't give a crap about your racist rants.

Oh, gosh, guys! This is tongue-in-cheek! Relax! I can only guess how hard it must be to be a pro gun lib/dem. But let me assure you it is not harder than being a Con/Rep living on a blue state!

Especially right now. Went to a Democratic meeting this weekend, and introduced myself as an officer of the Gun Owners Caucus. (I know there were two other caucus members present, but they're both quiet about it - they come to caucus events and are vocal there, but aren't vocal at "general membership" Democratic meetings.) Later, a man there called for ANTI-gun Democrats to register as members of the caucus specifically to counter the actual pro-gun Democrats in the caucus. :s0077: At least it's less likely that those will show up in force every meeting.

My nightmare scenario for this country would be if the anti-gun liberals teamed up with the ant-abortion/gay marriage/teaching creationism in school biology classes/prayer in school/ social conservatives. You should watch that movie Demolition Man, such a scenario seems to happen in their version of the future. Anything that anyone considers a vice is illegal and the police will ticket you if you so much as cuss. People don't even have sex anymore in the future in that movie because it is illegal or somethin.

Don't get me wrong with what I'm going to say, because you have always struck me as a pleasant person...

Nothing like blind devotion to an ideology that they don't truly understand to its "end game"... Slavery and servitude to The State. They THINK they will be the elitists benefactors of The State, but the reality is they are useful idiots and will be among the first to be subjegated to the work gangs (or eliminated), after those with enough sack to resist the current machinations are worn down and gone.

You serve an ugly "god" who will eat you and yours (that man you mentioned proves that), and you'll cheer for it until the very end.

I came to realize the "GOP" is no better than the Jack-a$$ party, that's why I changed to Independant. At least I saw the "Grand Old Party" for what it is and left, hopefully those clinging to the "Party of Tolerance" will finally see just how intolerant it is if you don't tow the ENTIRE party-line.

Dude... You need to get out of your parents' basement more often.

I'm disappointed in Y'all pissing on each other's shoes while ignorant politicians of all persuasions are working to take your firearm freedoms away.

They ain't ignant, friend... They know EXACTLY what they're doing... and for the record, I'm pissing IN the shoes of the statist's that rear their pumpkin heads and spout their stupid-a$$ed drone-speak around here. ;)

The Dixiecrat Myth | Black & Right
The confusion arises from GOP Barry Goldwater’s vote against the ’64 act. He had voted in favor or all earlier bills and had led the integration of the Arizona Air National Guard, but he didn’t like the “private property” aspects of the ’64 law. In other words, Goldwater believed people’s private businesses and private clubs were subject only to market forces, not government mandates (“We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.”) His vote against the Civil Rights Act was because of that one provision was, to my mind, a principled mistake.

This stance is what won Goldwater the South in 1964, and no doubt many racists voted for Goldwater in the mistaken belief that he opposed Negro Civil Rights. But Goldwater was not a racist; he was a libertarian who favored both civil rights and property rights.
