We work very hard to provide a family-friendly community for local firearm owners. The internet may be a rough place, but that
doesn't stop us from doing our best to keep our small corner clean. Those who show common decency and treat others with respect
will find a place they're proud to call home.
We have little tolerance for those who don't.
Though this may sound a little 'out there', we couldn't phrase it better than our sixteenth president, Abraham Lincoln (captured on VHS circa 1989).
Websters defines excellent as "unusually good" or "much better than average". Northwest Firearms welcomes all gun owners, meaning you will find a more diverse group here than on other firearm-related websites. Going above and beyond when interacting with others you may disagree with is never easy, but it is a condition of your membership here. You don't have to be warm and fuzzy, but you do have to be respectful to other members. When things get heated, simply avoid using the word you.
How you treat others, both online and off, is a direct reflection on all gun owners. Believe us, people are watching. Opting for the high road is always the best choice. Nobody has ever won someone to their way of thinking by calling them an idiot. We expect people to act like adults here, it's unreasonable to ask us to babysit you. No doubt, there will be conflict and disagreements here. You alone will be held responsible for how you deal with them. Take a breath, walk away, go outside.
This rule is purposely vague to inclusively prohibit a wide variety of rude, malicious, catty, sarcastic, hurtful, hateful, spiteful, barbed, and ornery behavior within the community including:
These are examples, this is not an exhaustive list. Insulting or disparaging another member is prohibited regardless of the way which it is done.
We are a single-issue organization, focused solely on bringing people together in support of the 2nd Amendment. Religious and political content is inherently divisive, hurting our cause far more than it could ever help it. This includes news-related content that our staff believes may cause division.
This is the guideline which sets the overall look, feel, and tone of our community. As a public organization with clearly defined goals, we must do everything we can to establish and maintain a positive, welcoming, family-friendly environment. Per our Terms of Service, it is the responsibility of every member to act accordingly.
This rule is all encompassing, including threads, posts, images, videos, language, innuendos, insinuations, suggestions, intimations, implications, hints, overtones, undertones, allusions, and references, or links to content which would be considered divisive, negative, offensive, or inappropriate if posted here. This also includes causing discord by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages, either accidentally or with the deliberate intent of provoking others into an emotional response, or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion (aka Trolling).
Examples of nonfactual material include:
Hiding or masking this type of content, such as attempting to avoid the language filter (d$#@!) or through vague wording, is considered a violation of this rule.
Copyright infringement is a very real legal threat to online forums, even causing some to shut down indefinitely. Though we see it often across the internet, must insist you do not re-post articles, emails, or other content found elsewhere on the net. Remember that non-firearm political content is not allowed here. Because they cannot be linked, posting emails is also prohibited.
Our community relies on support from members and advertisers to cover our costs. Without their financial support, this site would not exist. Our Supporting Vendors are reasonable to expect their competitors are not getting the same benefits without cost. This rule includes business-related usernames, avatars, profile information, classified ads, and posts. This also includes members repeatedly using the classifieds to turn a profit (e.g. buying cheap ammunition and then reselling at higher prices), regardless of your actual business status.
If you're interested in becoming a vendor, please see this help topic and our advertising page for more information.
Members may cease participation in our community by simply no longer visiting our site. Threads, posts, conversations, and other submissions announcing your departure will be removed.
We understand some people may disagree with the way we choose to run our community. While you don't have to agree with our rules and policies, we do
require that you respect both them and our team members if you wish to participate here.
If you have a problem or concern related to our rules, policies, or moderation, please use the contact link at the bottom of the page to notify an
administrator. We will review these submissions as soon as possible, though a response is not guaranteed.
Removal of content causes numerous continuity issues for forum-based communities such as ours. In accordance with our Terms of Service, mass removal of content is grounds for immediate and permanent account revocation.
Do not post ads anywhere except the proper classified section.
