Went playing at the range today with my prodigy as the star of the show. Before I knew it, I had shot at least 300 rounds through it. Was like a great big vacuum sucking up all my ammo and just reinforces how much fun the 2011 family of guns is. Having an even nicer one would make things that much more fun, I think
That is the issue let the wife shoot it and another 300 rounds down range the Prodigy is sweet just leave the 26 round mags at home they make short work of ammo!

I brought 2 twentys and a seventeen. Made for difficult math to end on a fully empty box, so of course, I had to keep opening new ones until the math worked out :D

Just left Highline Firearms in Newberg today buying a suppressor, and got to fondle a Nighthawk they had there on consignment, as well as a freaking Laugo Alien. If i had $7k to blow on one handgun, it would be a hard choice to choose between an Atlas 2011 or the Alien- that thing is just crazy! Also had a couple of Wilsons there . . .

Jacob Grey is a great alternative at around the same price as Staccato. Having handled both I can say that the Jacob Grey feels way better, and it comes with the optics plates as an added bonus.

I tell people I bought a clone of the original 2011, A Girsan MCP35. I said it. What if I want a double stack 45? Got 2 of those, a G41 and a EAA Witness P Match. I don't drop that kind of cash on a gun but if you have it and wanna do it, it's your money.

I would get online and pimp out a Platypus and wait 12 weeks to get it exactly as you want. Bonus, it takes Glock mags.

Supporting all of the above...lots of great gunsMany are not quite 2011, but double stack for sure. We stock all of them, and I own most of them personally as well, everything below...I own.

Wilson Combat EDCX9 - my daily carry. Lightweight, accurate, reliable with the large grip/trigger it fits my hand (6'-7) , and my wife has one with the small grip/trigger (5;-4"). I wouldnt put this in the 2011 category, but a double stack 1911 would be a better description.

Staccato C2 - not as refined as other Stacattos, including my P Duo. Very good pistol, I like it, won't be a carry gun but may end up as good back up gun in the travel safe.

Stacatto P Duo - I like shooting full size frames. This checks a lot of boxes for a production gun.

Dan Wesson DWX - I love the concept and its a really good pistol. Ergonomics just arent natural for me, cant define it. It just doesnt fit/balance for me.

Stacatto XC - hands down, my go to pistol. Flat shooting, fast, accurate. Exceptional. Zero complaints. I have beat this gun to death in training classes, rolled on the ground with it, jammed it through windshields, done things most people would be disgusted by, but that was my intent...take a fancy and see if she can fight as good as she looks. I have an SRO and Surefire light on it, and it's a bedside gun. I trust this gun more than anything else in my vault.

Stacatto XL - should actually be better than the XC, since it doesn't have the barrel comp. Flat shooting, well balanced, great fit, incredible pistol.

Atlas Hyperion - on par with both Stacatto XC and XL. Flat shooting, fast, accurate, well balanced. Only qualm, it's magwell won't take some of my other 2011 Magazines dur to the base plates. This is a great gun. the grip is aggressive,

Masterpiece DS9 - I'm waiting for our restocking order to arrive and taking one home. Great pistol, good value. Will shoot it side by side with the others and that when I can really isolate what I like and don't like.

Nighthawks - Exquisite pieces. I love them, 5 of them in my vault, plus a few of their Korth's as well. The TRS is a great pistol, problem is keeping them around, even at 6K price tag. 18 month lead times makes it really hard project how many we need in process at any time. We have 75 Night hawks on open order, about 8 on the shelf right now, they are one of my favorite manufacturers. Worth the price premium? In my book, yes. Does it significantly improve performance, no. Are they works of art, yes. Example, this 3 pistol set we have...

Lots of good options, getting your hands on them at the same place, same time...that's the hard part.

why an alternative to Staccato? That's the question you need to ponder. Any staccato is well made, reliable and a great shooter, but quite expensive. It's definitely not the peak of a 2011, but it's a good entry point. The DWX is a great alternative in that price point as welll, but also an entry level 2011.

the trouble is 2011s are a rabbit hole - the search of the world's "best guns" so to speak, at any cost. For more money there are lots of legendary guns out there - nighthawk, alien, prodigy, atlas, etc - but they are often significantly more expensive.

What exactly are you looking for? If you just want a 2011 to check off your wish list get a DWX or Staccato and save your checkbook. If you have the money to spend you may end up with a stable of more than ten 2011's soon. (If that's the case, you'll make a lot of friends!)

Staccato does nothing for me in the wow department. Everyone and their mother has one and I want something different. The DWX is out unless they come out with a version that takes shadow mags instead of P10 mags because I already have that infrastructure. Don't need yet another magazine pattern.

I have a platypus on order that I should see in August and am looking at alchemy "hi-cap" models which have that more traditional 1911 look with 2011 functionality.

that makes perfect sense. As I said, the staccato is truly an entry level 2011 just with a big company and a law enforcement use.

If you have a platypus and are looking at an alchemy you clearly are looking for the rare and extraordinary.
