Aluminum dust (from say, a disintegrating airplane, maybe?), plus rust from the steel structures, and high temp flames from burning jet fuel = thermite?
The conversation I have "tried" to have that never goes anywhere is how steel does not have to melt to allow what it is supporting to let go. Enough heat applied and things stop "holding". I have no doubt the beams holding the towers were "protected" to some extent for just this reason. No engineer ever figured in how much protection would be needed to defend against that kind of fire. The idea was always if there was a fire in the building from the items brought into the building. Furniture and such. Beams were made to be able to withstand the heat generated by that kind of fire. They of course did not try to figure out how to protect them from a jetliner full of fuel being run into them. :s0092:
