This information is something that thinking Americans would do well to read. There are other versions of this. I think Toynbee came out with the first one around 1934, four stages, but I think the article I've linked here is better.

Look at the first power curve graph that Murrin has provided. Look at the Red side. Read the characteristics of the contractive phase:

1. Shrinking sphere of influence.
2. Protectionism.
3. Emphasis on individual rights.
4. Social fragmentation.
5. Social discord.
6. Pessimism.

Do these things sound familiar in terms of what is going on with the US today?

Thinking Americans might attempt to either do something to effect change in the process, or get ready so survive the process.

This is dated 2016, so not quite up to date but if anything, events that have taken place in the interim have only reinforced the theory.
