Oregon Firearms Federation (OFF) is the best local fighting force for our rights. OFF and Kevin Starrett are fantastic. Kevin is the author of the book "Understanding Oregon's Gun Laws". I actually frequently buy the book and give it to new shooters. Kevin is very active in the community, responds quickly to e-mails and has helped me in the past construct letters to legislators. Great guy. If you care about Gun Rights in Oregon, he deserves your support. I give him $100 every few months and you can use your free Oregon Political Tax Credit ($50/individual or $100/couple per year) and take money out of Kate Brown's hands. Maybe we can help fund a better website while we're at it. ;) I think the Facebook page gets updated more frequently. OFF FB

I've seen support the GOA links and that's great. Gun Owners of America is a no compromise organization that actually wants to preserve ALL of your 2A rights and I would encourage you all to get a lifetime membership.

2nd Amendment Foundation (2AF/SAF) does a lot of legal work on behalf of gun owners. They aren't always asking for your money so every dime goes into legal fees and fighting in the court rooms. They are at the core of a lot of legal battles and actively cooperate with other local organizations, unlike the NRA.

There's also the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR). I'm just starting to look into them but I hear good things so far.

I would recommend that everyone reconsider donating to the NRA. If you have a membership, keep it but vote for the people Marion Hammer dislikes. The NRA has a long history of supporting and helping to craft gun control including the NFA. If you want to repeal the NFA, you need to support the organizations above and not the organization that helped create it. I've included just a couple of links below but please do 2 seconds of research and you'll see, there are better organizations that truly care about saving and expanding your rights. Additionally, Wayne LaPierre makes between $1.4 and $5 Million/year to be a figure head. Is that where you want your membership dues to go? Not me.
When the NRA Supported Gun Control
JPFO: NRA Supported the National Firearms Act of 1934

Thank you!

I'm not giving any more money to OFF until they explain their knee-jerk reaction to downgrading Carpenter....which I believe to be politically motivated and will do so until I hear their response.

Also, why haven't they replied to a member here's multiple emails(not sure who) about Kevin using OFF's funds to help elect his sister to County Commisioner?

I listened to the debate (Please find it here @ 17:20), including Carpenter's comments and I was a little disappointed at his response regarding the potential passage of IP43. The question was roughly, if it became law, would he support the confiscation of Oregonian's guns. His answer was that he would follow the law. I was looking for a big "NO" on that. I was looking for "I will not enforce any unconstitutional law or any law that strips Oregonians of their rights, etc." He said that we need to focus on preventing it from passing but if it did, he would follow the law. Not very encouraging.

As far as OFF's funds to elect his sister, I'm not aware of that. All I saw was an OFF endorsement on the webpage. If she's like-minded, I'd support her but otherwise, I'm not aware of funds going to her campaign or anything else. If you have info, I'd be interested. Nepotism aside, if she's like-minded, part of OFF's mission includes Political Action and supporting candidates who will fight for our rights is part of what they do. In 2014, Mary Starrett was elected to the Yamhill County Commission so she apparently has already done the job and this is more of a re-election I think. It would have to be a blatant misuse of funds for me to be pissed. If it's only nepotism and an endorsement, I'd trust some of my friends and family and would endorse them to fight for our rights. It still feels better than giving to the NRA. They spend our money working against us.

I too was disappointed by his initial comments, but also feel that he was kind of barraged by Lars as well. Not 100% sure if the whole donating to his sister is even accurate, but a member here has claimed that they have tried to reach out to Kevin about it multiple times and has he never fielded a response. I find that to be a little suspicious, but not reading too deeply into it. I would be fine with the donations as long as the intentions were good and it was transparent.

I think Lars was shocked by his response. Now we have Knute Buehler regardless. I hope he is better than Kate Brown.
Anyway, I still think that OFF is a good cause and Kevin's a good advocate for our rights. I just wish I was a web developer. I'd donate some time to get the web page back in shape.;)

Second Amendment Activist Centers
These Centers will provide NRA members and gun owners with NRA buttons, Fact Sheets on legislation and issues, volunteer sign-up forms, voter registration materials, and, in election years, information on grassroots activities and events. Also, we are encouraging all Second Amendment Activist Centers that are able to do so, to make a computer terminal with Internet access available to their patrons so they may access our website -- NRA-PVF | PVF Home -- and e-mail their lawmakers, on-the-spot, utilizing our site's "Write Your Representatives" and other features (specifically, the "Help Save America's Firearms Industry" section).

Just think...this was a few years back. Now never more relevant after the Democrats in secret just rammed through the worst anti-gun legislation in Oregon's history. I emailed Senators, Representatives, and the Governor wanting a rational defense of the legislation. Not a word back. That's how Democrats operate these days. They have a well-coordinated national agenda to disarm the population and set the stage for disabling IIA. Don't have a gun or won't use it when the Antifa/BLM mob comes knocking? They will kill you, like they almost did that guy in Portland a couple nights ago. They're openly carrying AK-47s now, brandishing law notwithstanding. They know they've cowed authorities.

Thanks for posting. Here's my issue. No matter how many emails I send to my two female Marxist Democrat state reps, they NEVER respond. My emails are respectful, diplomatic, and succinct. For instance, I'll ask them to explain in detail their reasons for supporting the latest anti-gun legislation. Both are MDs and thus have the intellect and the formal training to be able to provide a logical argument. But that's not what Leftist Democrats do. They remain silent.

Oregon 2023 session legislature contact information is now posted on the legislature web site. You can start here: https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/citizen_engagement

Click on Senate or House to see a list of all press releases, party leadership, committee members, bills, and other important information. Downloadable contact information for all is available on the chamber page on the right hand side under contact data. You can download a printable list or a CSV file. I suspect that any county PCP will also have the information available or be able to get it from the party.

I also have these lists as Access database and Excel spreadsheet files. PM me if you would like them in either of those formats.
