I heard it's because most transactions now occur online, using EFT.
Coins are just chilling whilst people cower from that super-deadly virus that kills everyone.
Also, many places are asking transactions to be done by card. Again, they don't want to be killed by the virus that kills everyone.

...they think...because we are sheep, we will do and believe whatever they want us to believe and we will believe them...because...they are the govt and they are here to help...us.
Me thinks, they want us to go all paperless/coinless/cashless. use your govt registered cellphone for all. that way, they can wipe you out electronically.
...have read this on other sites, maybe a bit of the reynolds hats, but some makes sense and it is how it is done in china so i'm told.
