I got this in an online auction bundled with a mod.12. This thing has been hand polished and reblued, so no real collector value. There are a couple of freckles and someone dinged the receiver putting it back together, but other than that it's spotless. Whoever did the work made sure that all manufacturering marks are still visible.
It's sporting a really nicely figured and checkered walnut Bishop's stock and forearm. It's not the original design; more like a black diamond. No dings that I can see.
Thought I would use it, but decided to give another '97 fan a chance.
Deets: 30 inch 12 ga Winchester '97. I looked up the serial number, but can't remember the year.
Back in the day, I started my duck hunting career with a 32" 1897 1897 12 ga, and I shoot cowboy with a 16 ga. This thing is neat and needs to be seen/touched to appreciate. I looked up how much Norincos (if you can find one) and refinished '97s cost (if you want to shell out $1800). This one really stands out.
There are tons of new and original wood out there, so a guy could revert to original design and sell off the Bishop's wood (remember them?).
Not trying to be greedy, and am offering it for $550.
This thing is SO cool!
