"SO I MENTIONED A WHILE BACK that New York was trying to moot the Supreme Court case over its gun restrictions by revising the regulations. They also asked the Supreme Court, which had granted certiorari on the case, to hold briefing in abeyance while they did so. Yesterday, the Court denied that request. " by Glenn Reynolds
IANAL - if I understand correctly - the Court said basically that NYC can't enforce the current law. The City is re-writing the law, and asked the court to allow them to enforce it while they do the re-write.
The court said, no.
The City can (and likely will) continue to infringe rights of citizens with the rules (law) change.
Issue: Whether New York City's ban on transporting a licensed, locked and unloaded handgun to a home or shooting range outside city limits is consistent with the Second Amendment, the commerce clause and the constitutional right to travel.
