This Spring Break , I am reading Audubon Writings and Drawings.
This is an excellent edition of John James Audubon's works from The Library of America.
In this book are :
Mississippi River Journal ( 1820 ) ...Complete
Excerpts from his :
1826 Journal...
Ornithological Biography ( Both writings and paintings )
Missouri River Journals ( 1843 ) ...Complete
Letters and Other Writings.
I am in his Mississippi River Journal , which has this odd and creepy entry
( Looking for a man who jumped overboard the flatboat and made it to shore )
Sunday 19th November 1820
"...found 2 dead Men Shot through the head Could not burrie them their Stench was too Great"...
Seems like scary things found in the woods , ain't a new thing....
Anyway...the book is a good read , murder notwithstanding.
