Glock 42 Magazine Extension

I recently bought a Glock42. I have purchased mag extensions to increase the grip, but for the life of me I cannot get the magazine plates off of the Glock mags.
I have seen videos of guys doing it and it looks simple enough. Does anyone know what may be the issue, or do you have experience with this. I'm a newb and need a step-by step. Thanks!

They are a pain and it seems like it may break the mag when popping them loose. They slide out in one direction and I just use one of my smaller phillips head or torx drivers to pry the base off. Stick it through that hole and pry!
