I'm not sure of the differences, but I got XM193 F a few months ago from Midway as their standard "XM193"...maybe it's just a packaging thing? Is there a difference in price between the variants?

These letters have no meaning whatsoever. The M-193 is Manufactured at the Lake City Arsenal for Federal. It carries the "Original" 55gr bullet and will shoot best in those guns chambered for the original .223 Remington caliber. Early guns May or May NOT function properly with the currently available Heavier bullets. This 'issue' is based on the actual length of the Throating of the Barrel and can also depend upon just how much the firearm might have been fired as this will have an effect on the length of the Throat as well as how it was originally Chambered.
