Kind of off-beat but I caught parts of the old Sci-Fi classic Them! with James Arness and James Whitmore this morning - I love the parade of MB Jeeps going into the LA riverbed tunnels as well as all the troops shooting the Garands, .30 M1's, the Thompsons and I don't remember the designation but the miuzzle-loaded grenade launcher on the Garands.

Shooter is a good one, but I am surprised no one has mentioned Tombstone.....one of my top 5 movies of all time. That is one famous Colt pistol.

"Im your huckleberry" and Doc spinning the cup, ha...classic.

Saw Battleground the other day. 1949 B&W classic. The movies that came out when all that WW2 equipment was still around are darn authentic. You just can't duplicate that stuff.

Very true, but Band of Brothers did a damn good job as well. And the pics that I have seen of Hanks/Spielburg's The Pacific looks pretty awesome as well.

Edit: check this out for some pictures from The Pacific. Some of the B&W ones look like they really could be from the 1940's.

Gonna have to get HBO this summer I think.....

Another one I'll get on DVD or BluRay. BoB was excellent, but while CGI helps, I can still detect it sometimes, and it just isn't possible to make a lot of realistic iron like tanks for close up. Normally only one or two at most are ever seen at one time. Prime reason we'll never see a decent navy yarn with dozens of destroyers and destroyer escorts zooming around. I salute their efforts anyway.
The Pacific images look like they did their munitions homework. I couldn't detect any errors with a cursory look-see, and I've got a Garand, an 03 and an Arisaka to compare to!
