I was in my cousins gun shop wednesday and met a fellow who makes custom stocks. He works in Brazilian Rosewood, Maple, and sometimes Walnut. I asked for a pair of Walnt stocks with a matte finish. Yesterday he returned with several sets.
The Walnut went on my Springfield Armory G.I. My cousin picked out several sets to sell in the shop. He mounted a set of Rosewood grips on a nickel plated Rock Island Armory 1911.
