I've read several positive comments on simple bluing touch-up with Oxpho blue (cream or gel). I'm dealing with a friend's Winchester model 700 that has perfect original bluing except for 2 "hair-width" scratches on the underside of the barrel. I basically want to diminish or hide the scratches as best I can and definitely do not want to mess up the factory bluing outside of the scratches. Is the Oxpho blue cream the best product for this type of job?

I'm a fan of birchwood casey super blue, but it depends on the original blueing. Oxpho blue will delivery a lighter tone for a finished product. You might mask off around the scratch and use a tiny brush to touch up. I've found most of the cold blue products can change the original blueing
