I have plastic and steel picks and punches at home... if your correct in that the detent pocket is too deep then it (the detent) is acting as a dead-bolt and beating it will probably break the aluminum reciever before the steel detent or pin.

Bring it over. If none of the usual tricks work (nice delrin punch and mallet, relieving spring tension), we can use the drill press open up the front side of the pin and pull the detent and spring out. I have extra forward takedown pins.
