Senate Republicans Defend Democracy, Support Constitutional Bipartisanship

SALEM, Ore. – Due to President Rob Wagner's arbitrary, capricious, and retaliatory actions, 10 Senate Republicans have accrued 10 or more unexcused absences.

Senate Republican Leader Tim Knopp (R-Bend) released the following statement:

"Senate Republicans are engaged in a peaceful, constitutional protest of the unlawful, uncompromising, and unconstitutional agenda the untrustworthy and deeply partisan Senate President has brought forward. We commit to Oregonians and our Democrat colleagues that we will return before the constitutional sine die to suspend readings and rules on lawful, substantially bipartisan budgets and bills. While Democrats are laser focused on the issues that do nothing but divide, we are focused on the real issues Oregonians care most about – homelessness, affordable housing, public safety, cost of living, job creation, and fully-funded education. We are committed to getting the People's work done, not facilitating an extreme, unlawful, unconstitutional agenda."

We commit to Oregonians and our Democrat colleagues that we will return before the constitutional sine die to suspend readings and rules on lawful, substantially bipartisan budgets and bills.
Well crap. Buy what you need as soon as possible; because who believes that the Democrats will not bring up the gun bills when the Republicans and Independent returns?

Well ya. Otherwise we'll get another "I'm not buying anything from company 'x' because they refuse to partake in lawful commerce, they've forever lost my business" thread.

Write Senate Rob Wagner, let him know you support the walkout and that you don't support the democrats socialistic and unconstitutional agenda, and be specific.

They need to know there's a significant percentage of us out here who don't agree with the democrats agenda nor their actions of ramrodding these bills down our collective throats.

That is really sad that 68% of voters approved that measure.
Did they? Given all that has gone on in the past few years, I'm not sure there is much integrity left in the voting system. The Democrat Senate majority leader's statements about the walk-outs is also pretty revealing. The redistricting and gerrymandering kept or put the dems in office. They probably wouldn't be there if there was an honest vote. But they arrogantly believe that the gerrymandering was the will of the people and believe (or as the majority leader tells us) the fact that they are in office, by shady means, is a mandate and approval for their crazy leftist policies. Now they want to make their stranglehold permanent with ranked voting.

Probably a waste of time and ink voting these days.

Like M113, not very many people are objecting to ranked choice voting. Rather dissapointing that, for an issue that affects the very core of voting, there were only three of us in opposition at the HB2004 hearing. The hearing room was filled with green shirts and they even had a tent set up actoss from the capitol on Tuesday for the work session. There were at least 30-40 organized green shirts waiting to go into the capitol.

It's frustrating to be active in politics and find that other conservatives are willfully ignorant, or simply don't care until they realize that their inaction has put them into a tough situation. Even more frustrating is hearing from so many that it's too much work to fight for their rights.

Yep. Conservatives/Republicans/people who are actually independent (not "Independent"); by and large it seems from my observations.. don't want to get together and don't want to work together. They won't unify until it's literally too late, and even then only in complaining and telling others "it's a waste of time voting"

Most of them want to be left alone. So they turn off the news, they turn off social media, they don't get out enough, and don't interact much with other people outside their small communities or church groups.. and then they find out what happened and say it's all rigged/nothing they could(would) do

This is the other side of letting them know, getting them to care.

I cannot understand it, myself, but the Left treats everything as political, and every situation as a competition for power. The idea of leaving people alone never surfaces; the idea that there are some things which cannot or should not be addressed by government is anathema to them.

Trying to ignore them leaves a power vacuum they are eager to fill. And as we have seen, once they grab any little bit of power, they consolidate and won't allow any backsliding.

The old, probably apocryphal story of 'I saw the smoke from a new neighbor's cabin over the ridge, time to move!' has not applied for probably a hundred years. I thought the 1950s were pretty nice, but we need to drag ourselves forward to 2023.

For the love of all things holy. Can someone please edit the title of this post to not say "dropped". For a split second every time I see it in my feed I think that a miracle has occured and the bills are no longer being pursued, but no - it is just the same ole post misusing words.

But, but, but the bills were dropped.

That's a pretty common term for procedures and regulations when they first hit the streets or become available for review.

From the link "Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek has signed a bill to keep funds flowing to state agencies until September if no budget has become law by July 1 and says she doesn't think the state "is in crisis mode yet."" :s0140: so.. why the "emergency clauses" in these Bills? :s0140:

It's all a Scam, always has been, always will be, especially when they have such a YUGE slush fund to tap into, including the Public Employees Retirement Funds too, Rob Peter to Pay Paul, it's the OryGun Way, that and raise taxes on EVERYTHING, because they are pissed we keep slapping down their sales tax scams!!

I'm incredibly proud of the senators that have been holding the line and walked out. I have noticed in every single article that has been written about the walkout NONE of them explain the text of HB 2002 and how it strips parents of rights to be included in medical decisions for their minor children. Every single news publication, including Fox 12 above, is running cover for the democrats. If people actually knew that HB 2002 allows the state to give your 12 year old child sex change drugs without informing the parents no sane person in this state would support the bill.

Yes the gun bills are stupid and unconstitutional too, but taking all rights away from parents to be involved in their childen's medical care decisions is pure insanity. If that passes, and you have children in the state of Oregon, you have to leave ASAP. its no longer a question of wanting to stay in Oregon, you cannot stay in a state that strips parents of all their rights to raise their children you MUST leave the state ASAP.

It is not coincidence that they are trying to ram these bills through at the same time. I would say that even if you don't have children, you should give strong consideration to leaving the state. The depravity at the core of these bills is only the beginning.
