What is this revolver?

This is another that belongs to my buddy. Not sure what it is other than a .32 cal. top break 6 shot revolver. Needs mainspring and grips. Just wondering what it is and if it has any value to sell for him. Smith Number 1? H&R? Thanks

I want to say Iver Johnson Model 1 that perhaps was modified. Sure would be interesting to know the history with the notches on the barrel.

Iver Johnson , Hopkins and Allen...and a whole host of others made revolvers like the one in the OP.
It was a very common design in the 1880's - 1920's.

With no markings other than caliber...it may be difficult to ID since so many different companies made similar models.
Lots of overseas made copies too....

It didn't even have the caliber marking. I tried one of .32 H*R in it and it was the right diameter. Thanks for the info.
