Youth 17hmr

Hello, I'm in the market for a youth sized 17hmr or something I could cut down and make work for a 9 year old. I've seen the ruger compact and the savage compact I'm kind of leaning towards a cz 455 and either buy a shorter stock from Boyd's or cut down the factory stock. Is there some other models that I should check out and what experience have you had with the rifles mentioned above. Rat season will be here before we know it and want to get him some range time before we head out to the fields. Thanks Bryan
