It looks like the cross-shaped structure is made from something like primer cord and the bullet sets it off from the energy of the impact. Pretty cool!

because of the impact on the projectile it looks like a cross shot from a shotgun. not sure how they timed that.

I can't believe I watched the whole thing! Every time I felt like I was getting bored, he would switch to a different type of event. It was endlessly mesmerizing! And it didn't hurt that I was beginning to feel like my early days of college experimentation with the monochromatic visuals and trippy sound track.
