The problem is that they are defending the lives of criminals, not the rest of us.
I agree. For some reason they are trying to espouse the notion it is better to be a victim than to prevail over the aggressor. This is evident when we read things like (in the recent Eugene story) where it was mentioned how it becomes more 'complicated' when the gun is discharged (or something to that effect), and there are many 911 recordings where the operator is repeating to the caller (who is the one in danger) "just don't shoot". One thing I can say however is the last several self defense shootings that have taken place in Central Oregon over the last several years (and there have been a few) have resulted in no legal action against the homeowners/victims.
 
They are interested in self preservation, and their own future in politics. Hot topics that upset the masses equal campaign gold. Never interested in the now, only the next election year.
 
hold the press and check the numbers! Something just doesn't add up. If more people are armed, there will be more shoot-outs, like the wild west; more innocent bystanders will also be shot.
