Gunmen kill 15 Mexican officers in 2 attacks

MEXICO CITY — Gunmen killed 15 federal police officers Monday in separate attacks in two drug-plagued states, marking one of the bloodiest days for security forces since the government stepped up its fight with drug cartels.

Twelve officers died in an ambush near a high school in the western state of Michoacan, while assailants killed three more officers in a northern border state.

The latest in a series of mass slayings came as President Felipe Calderon defended his crackdown on traffickers in an essay on his office's website. He vowed he won't back down despite criticism that violence has only surged since he deployed thousands of troops and federal police in late 2006 seeking to crush the cartels.

unfortunate. mexico has the supply, we have the demand. who do you blame?

It isn't rocket science to know if nobody sells it then people don't use it. It has been determined by law that it is worse to be a seller than a user. However the real point here is as crime escalates even cops armed to the teeth can get ambushed and murderd in large numbers. Numbers don't make a group smart, it's good tactics that will keep a group alive.

This kind of crime is headed our way. We have drug dealers living amoung us that are from another nation and have no respect for our laws. As things get worse the escalation is predictable. Survival takes many shapes and forms as sh!t happens.

It is time to put troops on the border. Every state has an infantry national guard unit. If they rotated through service on the border it would serve their cause. Also, there is no better training then a real world mission.

But what if the L.A. city council members protest? :s0112:

make drugs free and all the organized crime associated with it go away.

It's an interesting footnote to history that the NFA came about in an attempt to stem the violence that grew from the crime syndicates that formed to make and distribute alchohol during prohibition...

I guess you could debate whether it was the repeal of prohibition or the regulation of certain firearms that led to a pretty drastic reduction in crime.

I still feel confident that even two troop sized squads of NWFA members could really do some damage to these cartels.

A vast array of skills, tools, weapons and ingenuity coupled with good ol American pride.

These days getting the military involved seems like a bad idea.. a means for expansion and more spending.

We just need the good old boys (and girls ;)) of America to be ALLOWED to fight these thugs. Save the people some money and get us in touch with our ancestral roots :s0155:

And Walter Mitty will be your leader :D

Well, fortunately people in Mexico are at least blessed with strong gun control laws.

Of course, that sadly leaves the citizens as victims and prey to the police and the criminals who still have guns. Which explains why 200,000 people (unarmed Mexican citizens) did a protest march in Mexico City against the daily rampant kidnappings they face that they say is the work of the police. The place is out of control.

Crazy but in El Paso Tx with essentially no gun restrictions and lots of citizens owning guns of all sorts they have very few murders, while right across the border in Mexico with the strict gun laws there's bullets flying and people dying with alacrity. The argument that if the US had gun control Mexico would benefit is total lies, they'd just order containers of guns and weapons from asscrackitan, Pakistan and war zones in the world market and bribe the longshoremen and gov't authorities to look the other way when they hit Mexican ports.

We could have all that here too with a few law changes.[/rant]

Take care all
