Back in the day when I was in college a near by town decided that it was mandatory for all residents to own guns, except for certain reasons.

The discussion came up that if you have to own a gun, then when they (the Government) come for them you had better turn one in.
We agreed we'd sell each other our guns, kind of across the poker table. What happened to X that you had to have? I sold that, maybe I have a receipt around her some where. Oh here is one for a shot gun, no that's not it....


I can't find the small town on the map just now - near Klamath Falls, I don't think it was as far a Chiloquin but .... that was when Reagan was the President, so ...

New York officials were sending out notices in November to owners of guns that had been registered with the state.

The letters said the owner must “immediately surrender your rifle and/or shotgun to your local police precinct” because records showed the weapon has “an ammunition feeding device capable of holding more than five (5) rounds of ammunition.”

Having no insurance, it could be argued, is the ultimate "Death Panel". Even with insurance, no matter the source, many now-dead people have passed because their insurers deny procedures for picayune excuses. This one is not a bumper sticker issue.

I have a gay friend who shoots pretty dang well and is a security professional for a company whose products you know. So that's not automatically a given that it brings an anti-gun bias. I'm not in the mood for stereotypical jingo today.

Anyway back on point, I assume those New York "Immediately Surrender" letters were really sent?
