I'm not sure anyone should be surprised. If you can avoid charges for shooting someone unarmed, you most certainly wouldn't face charges for shooting someone who had a gun and managed to cook off a round himself.

Not saying its not a messed-up situation, just saying that there are more boxes checked on this shoot vs others that weren't prosecuted. You know the investigation went this long so they could have their ducks in a row on how to explain they weren't going to charge anyone.
