XDM 5.25 or Glock 34 Gen 4?

So I have a junior shooter I have been mentoring at Speed Steel. So far we have been shooting 22LR but he's looking at college in the next year. I want him to graduate to centerfire Steel challenge. We are both left handed so Ambi controls are preferred.

I currently have an XDM 9mm with the 3.8" barrel. It's pretty accurate but lookin for something with better accuracy and a longer barrel. So my 2 top contenders are the Glock 34 Gen 4 or the XDM 5.25.
