WTK? why the annoying page refresh every 60 seconds?

What;s up with this "new" feature? Why? What does it accomplish other then frustrating me to have to go back and find my place on the page where I was reading something that took longer than 60 seconds? I mean really. It's like fighting your news feed from not moving when there are a ton of people on Facebook.

I think I've had to hit stop like 2 times total, but if "cookies" are enabled, It should be just the one time, or upon signing up potentially.

When you click the stop button it should save that preference and not turn it back on again.

Is it cookie based? It pops up all the time for me but only if I has closed the browser first. Firefox kills 3rd party cookies after closing down (I know, settings). Maybe it should be a menu based option then?

One more thing to click. I am tired of clicking to turn things off that I never wanted. Not just here, in general. We are bored with web design to the point now that we are polishing things up that are already quite shiny enough.

Just wait, next week we will have to click on #1 for English.
