You might be wondering why I am posting a video of Ron Paul in the Preparedness & Survival forum.....well, watch the video linked below and you will see why I have chosen this section rather than the Legal & Political......

Ron Paul will have my vote.

    Go Ron Paul!

BUT you guys know what he meant by "legalese competition to the Federal Reserve with competing currencies"? Not being an economist, this sounds kinda spooky/out there to me.

If I remember correctly he has said that a currency based on silver/gold should be reintroduced and then the masses can decide which currency will be the preferred choice for them to use going forward.

Problem is that you will be wasting your vote for someone that can't possibly win at this point. You need to vote for someone that can win and not siphon your vote off.
That's why I won't vote for a Tea Party candidate, they really don't have that much chance of winning and voting for their candidates MIGHT cause an anti gunner to win.

However if Ron Paul ever shows enough voter support I WILL vote for him!

How are we to show how much voter support he has if we never vote for him? I know that if he runs he'll have my vote. But then again I voted for Ross Perot too. ;)

If the embed code doesn't work, here is a link to a video from 1988. Ron Paul has not really changed his position from that time.

YouTube - Ron Paul Gold Standard

Regarding the legal competition for money: The Fed has a monopoly on printing money. Your cash dollars are Federal Reserve notes, and no one else is allowed to manufacture notes. If you recall, there was a guy a while ago that got busted for making liberty dollars (too lazy to find a link). Paul thinks that others should be able to compete with the Fed on the manufacturing of money, and let the market place determine who will accept which notes. This is one step closer to the barter system, but still relies on the fiat nature of money. The manufacturers of money would need to convince users that the money has value above and beyond the belief that it has value, possibly commodity based. Right now, the only value Fed notes have is the fact that everyone accepts them for what they are. If everyone were to wake up tomorrow and not accept Fed notes, then TEOTWAWKI would happen very quickly, since everyone holds Fed notes as reserve currencies.

That is the most asinine comment I have heard in I don't know how long. So everyone should just vote for Media Sanctioned Political Hack #1, or for Media Sanctioned Political Hack #2 because he/she is the "only one that can win?" Kinda like this?:

Saddam Hussein Wins One-Man Race - CBS News

sickening dribble. If every one would vote FOR a person rather than just against some one we might start seeing a change for the better in the political choices. Voting for a candidate only because they are the lesser of two evils and you feel they might have a chance is a wasted vote. Almost every one a know voted for one of the main contenders rather than who they really liked. Turn that to a vote for some one they really wanted across the nation, now there is change, (and not change for change that is change with hope and change crap).
I wrote in Dr. Paul last time. some say I wasted it. I feel good about doing it. To bad every person who really wanted Dr. Paul to win didn't do that. Imagine point that would have made.

If he runs again, I will do the same again.

When you can/do get a reciept for your vote, you will know your vote counted, and if the vote is so close- it deserves/ needs a recount your reciept is worth keeping. As the system is, one only wonders, and never knows, Vote none the less, and keep hoping for what, our fore fathers envisioned. The day will come..

    Agreed.

This nonsense about voting for one disaster because he's "the only guy who can beat" the other disaster is the kind of foolishness that has brought us this far.

I am working toward the day when I don't have to cast my vote against someone, or for the lesser of two evils.
That being said however, if I REALLY don't like the direction the current crop is taking the country, then I'll settle for gridlock.
Anything to stop the steamroller that insists on "leading" us into socialism.

    voted for him last election...

And I remember reading here on this site in a somewhat newly released gov doc that anyone who voted for him is deemed as a potential terrorist threat to the US. To me this means 'they' understand everything he is saying, maybe even agree but they have chosen to go in a different direction. and have been...its called 'new world order'

I remember after 9/11 when everyone was against hearing this kind of talk. If I were to post his 1988 youtube vid on say arfcom...well lets just say it didn't fly. The war, wall street, bail out, bush, obama, and all the bold face lies has changed Americans and the way they think about their government now, in 2010. People are starting to open their eyes to our govs real agenda and realizing the consequences it has on us (thank you bailout) People will become more aware because they have too. Old Ron Paul doesn't sound so crazy all the sudden...does he

The most important part about what was said in the video is that if we make a change as mentioned we will inevitably encounter a rough transition BUT it will no way compare to what this collision course we are on now will have us endure.
