Since it is a type of salt in the primer compound, cleaning with water works very well, similar to cleaning black powder firearms. Unfortunately, the M1 rifle is not easy to clean using those methods.
And, that's why I'm not going to shoot them.

I would guess then, when the CMP measures throat and muzzle up in 4+ that that doesn't just mean sloppy cleaning habits/shot out, but also improper cleaning.
 
I guess if your punching 100s of primers on corrosive primer ammo?
That could be. I could see how the residual salts from uncleaned brass could migrate into the dies. I've loaded thousand of previously corrosive primed brass cases, but I typically clean my brass before loading it.
