I guess I'm the lone case here. I've sold several rifles and handguns, but always on consignment through a FFL.

Any problems are the FFL...not mine.

I'm the same way - all of my sales thus far have been through a FFL. If I did do a private sale, I'd expect the other person to have a CCW or other proof (indication?) of eligibility to own a firearm.

So I just read a forsale thread and the seller will only sell to an NRA member.

That's completely asinine.

It is his prerogative, but about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

As wichaka mentioned, anyone can join the NRA. Has nothing to do with anything as far as vetting your legal status to purchase the gun. Only proves that your members of the same unfocused, quagmired club.
