Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
The standard catalog of S&W 3rd edition shows that the A serial numbers ended in 1988.
They do not show your exact prefix letters of ANP. An educated guess would put production of this serial number around 1985-1987 or so.
The Factory will give you the month and year that Serial Number was shipped. Not all production leaves the Factory at the time it's produced. A couple years back a search for a Model 39-2 found that the particular Serial Number showed up that two Guns with Consecutive Serial Numbers had actually been shipped 14 years apart!!!
I looked the number up in my catalog and it jumps from1986 to 2004. Sometimes they skip entire blocks of letters and numbers, they number in fits and starts and otherwise keep their system in more of an alchemy model.
