CRKT M-16 was my worst knife ever. I had to include a stock photo cause the lock failed and I cut the h311 outta my finger and threw it in the woods. Cheap steel garbage lock system. Looked cool but that's it.
Went Benchmade and never looked back. I carry a Nakamura, modified Bugout now.

Wow. Does anyone know the history of crkt? I heard that Gerber used to be a respectable brand and supposedly made some good knives before 1987 when they were sold to fiskars and everything moved to cheap Chinese garbage steel. Did the same thing happen to CrKT or have they just been always bad? I looked at pretty much every knife they have recently and I couldn't find a single one I would want to own, primarily due to the steels used.

I didn't dig into it much (I was looking for history of the company)but sounds like your experience is shared with many online. Fe:

Boker and cold steel do.
So , you can count on them to work in adverse conditions.
Boker Kalashnikov imo is one of the best values out there for an auto knife. Kick like a mule and ultra reliable for about $40-$50. Recently got 3 of them in D2 steel and they see all the pocket time now cuz they are so fun and don't have to worry about beating them up.

Some examples from youtube of 13-14 years of constant use/abuse and still going without a hitch.

Worst:
Benchmade Bugout
Benchmade Griptilian
CRKT Batum
SOG Trident (both versions, I had the OG and it sucked, SOG replaced it with the new, fancier D2 steel one and it sucks too)
I have spent thousands (or at least in the high hundreds) on stupid goddamn folding knives and my favorites are still the Rat1 and the Kershaw made Emerson knives, specifically the CQC4KXL. I alternate between those two and my Spyderco Resilience.
