I see that Utah is on the list of states that Wisconsin will honor, does that apply to non-resident Utah permits or are they like Florida and it must be your home state?

Why should Wisconsin honor Oregon's permits? Oregon doesn't honor any one else's. Where's the reciprocity?

Why? Because it is the right thing to do. Just because Oregon is not doing the right thing should not prevent Wisconsin (or other states) from doing the right thing. Did you not learn that 2 wrongs don't make a right?

Oregon has its nose in the air in almost every way. There is very little reciprocity in licenses of all sorts in this state (teaching, contractor, CHL, etc.).

If they do that then where is their future bargaining chip to force OR to give reciprocity

This is good news, it expands the vacation possibilities for my crew. Wisc may now some of our vacation money

They will honor CA's who doesn't honor other states. So reciprocity isn't the requirement.

Man I am going hunting there *WI* in Nov like every year and I always carried. You could always open carry so I am happy that the law changed a little.

I give them lots of money as that is the best state I have ever hunted.

No if I could get my wife to move there I would be in heaven.....................

It is not just Kali. The following do not have reciprocity, (or very limited) and are in the list: Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, New York, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, etc. If reciprocity is a requirement, I can't make sense of this list.

I found this at WI DOJ website:
WI Department of Justice - Law Enforcement Services

So, it seems the WI DOJ think Oregon doesn't meet their criteria!

Nevertheless, there is a silver lining. It seems they can be persuaded of the error of their ways.

I don't think any state should accept OR and the only reason I say that is because they don't accept anybody elses.

I think that is fair. I would do they same thing if I had the power.

Just like the tax situation. How come OR people don't have to pay tax in WA? Go to CA and they tell you to pack sand?

I think WA is stupid because they are loosing millions of dollars by allowing that.

It just makes WA residents pay more because of the loss or revenue.

I don't think Washington should honor Oregon drivers' licenses either. If you've actually seen yourselves drive, you'd understand. Southern Canadians, the lot of you.

I was surprised Florida didn't make the list either. I guess when WI chose states according to the new statutes, there was a bit of personal discretion involved.....

Perhaps ( and this is just me tossing ideas around ) FL and OR both require "training" before exercising a right. WA doesn't, and from what I read above, neither does WI.....

    I dunno. Hard to say

There are two parts to WI's recognition of another states CPL.

They want a secondary criminal/mental health background check required, not just the national NCIS check. Also, WI sent out letters to all the states and asked for their law, and requested reciprocity.

To be recognized the state had to respond with their laws showing they meet WI requirements (training is not a requirement for recognition). They did not necessarily require a reciprocity agreement, but they did require a response.

I fulyl expect the WA will recognize WI when they start issuing permits also. WI will meet all of our requirements, including recognition.

Guys, there is no training or reciprocity issue involved here.

    Check post #10 again.
Two requirements: 1) criminal history records check, 2) NICS check. I am pretty sure Oregon does both. Then, Oregon is not meeting WI BGC requirements. That is the only reasonable explanation. Then, why?
