Have a winchester 12 guage and I noticed after firing a round that the expended shell is positioned 1/2 way straight back in the ejection port. The gun cycles fine but is this normal? It does make for faster cycling of a new round though, any thoughts?

That is part of the "Speed Pump" feature of the Winchester Defender. It is designed to make cycling faster.
