Winchester 65 info

I just inherited a nice Winchester model 65 in the desirable 25-20 caliber and can't find the exact date of manufacture. The 65 seems to have been produced from 1933-47 and my serial# 1004378 puts mine in the 1934-42 range, but that's as close as I can get. It looks like there was only 1,502 model 65's made in the 25-20.

Any help is much appreciated.

My Grandfather bought it new, my father inherited it from him and me from my Dad.

Sweet! I have an old Savage sporter in .25-20 and it is a hoot to shoot. Ammo nowadays is pretty spendy though.

After looking at other pics of model 65's it looks like the only thing missing on mine is the rear sight ramp and the front sight hood. Assuming that all 65's came with these.

But yours is in much better condition.
