E1BD41F0-D590-4537-B1C1-F450A3A6758E.jpeg Here is a very nice Winchester 1885 chambered in the elk/deer thumper .405 Winchester. It's in perfect shape overall. Not a dent or ding anywhere on it. Bluing is perfect on it, and the bore is perfect.
It has a nice Lyman tang sight. Also included is a set of Leupold bases and rings. It is factory drilled and tapped for the scope bases.
I also have 120 + rounds of loaded ammunition that goes along with it, and a set of Hornady dies.
It doesn't have the rear sight on the barrel, but the dovetail has a nice filler piece installed.
Barrel length is 28"

Price is $1100

I can ship this rifle nationwide. Buyer pays shipping. I can also do the ffl transfer right here for $20
Sorry no trades.

This is gorgeous! But it has the same "problem" my Browning B78 in 45-70 did, it's too nice to use (almost!). It's a near duplicate, too.
And I'm drooling all over the keyboard pondering.:)

And it has that wonderful, some call awful crescent steel buttplate. Nothing looks better. Just make sure it's tucked in nice and snug, with the toe away from your bicep and it's all good. Otherwise you'll end up with a multi toed deer print shaped bruise!

Is there an estimated velocity for the two shown loads?

Velzey, I hope you don't think I'm hi-jacking your post, that was not my intention. One of my shooting buddies has an original underlever Winchester in .405 Win, and he reloads for it - also uses a GC [gas-check] home-cast bullet made pretty hard. Last year we chrono'ed them with our new Labradar device and HIS loads with the lighter bullet were just on the 2050 fps mark - plenty of power for killing anything made of paper, no matter how thick it might be. For reasons best known to themselves, such a slow-moving bullet is not deemed suitable to use on deer or feral pig here in UK, where the PTB insist on something that shoots at least 2250 fps.....sigh.........................
