I believe the Sheriff's will be far more approachable as they are closer to their people on a day to day basis.

As far as OSP goes, good luck with that.
The flow chart starts with the Superintendent who is answerable to the Governit of the day. From there it goes down through the hierarchy to the Troopers. No direct accountability to the average citizen. They don't even make much of an effort to nurture relations with other agencies, unless they can establish their pack dominance. Historically, they answer to Salem, period. To expect that they would welcome input from non-governmental sources would be a non-starter. Reasonable SO's (forget the big city departments) are going to be the key, but care must be taken not to wearing out your welcome.
Still no reason not to try all resources. This is all BS. Make them cosign it and attach their names and agencies to it. Hopefully, some or most will not want to. If we don't care, why should they?

Misdemeanors first time, felonies after that.
For having a magazine over 10rds….
$65 for a permit for 5years and it doesn't tell you how to get it or where to take a class, what class you need to take.
It's a series of important questions, that the state currently has zero answers for …
All of this should have been included and covered by the written law, not to be made up after the "law" passes a vote.

So being less educated = being Republican.
If that's so maybe we should get rid of community colleges, and then high schools to expand the Red Herd of Sheep.
No.

They are 4 year universities and known for being liberal so kids come in here, set residency, vote young idealistic ideas and sway and change.

Not to mention the majority of college employees are left leaning. Eliminate their jobs with valid Democrat hunting permits and you'll see less demand on PERS too.

I believe you're missing the point. Not talking about less education, but restore the integrity of education institutions. Start teaching history again instead of handing out the alinsky bible.

Historically Linn county has been working class and they know what it cost to live in this world, real down to earth folks. Benton and Lane are college areas with most on the public dole and with a herd mentality.

There are some really good people that live in Lane and Benton county but they are outnumbered and outspent in politics.
Linn county has higher rates of folks on public assistance than Benton or Lane county. Take % on food stamps: Linn 25.9% vs. Benton 11.7% or Lane 22.8%. More folks are on food stamps in Linn than Multnomah 22.5%.

The "city people on welfare" thing is off. The more rural the area, the higher amount of folks on public assistance. And no shame in it. Fewer jobs and harder to get by. Complain about folks on the public dole and you're likely criticizing neighbors.

Public sector, not welfare.

Read again.

Worthwhile thread - let's please not kill it with off topic squabble. Take it to the Off Topic subforum where the thread can be killed there for CoC violations while leaving this valid topic alone.

How is it worthwhile? The thread is about "lobbying" the state patrol. Why the hell would anyone do that?

I didn't say I agreed or disagreed with anything. It's a valid conversation that IMO is worth having.
Not imo. It is a total waste of time and is one of many distractions which brings our focus away from what is important. Wasting time in circle of concern vs circle of influence is bad enough, but wasting time on something that is very likely leading us in the opposite direction of where we want to go is doubly bad. Watering every thought or crazy idea is not smart imo. Focusing on effective actions to fight m114 and prevent more of the same in the future is what we need to do.

It's a little bit like the enemy is setting little fires everywhere that we have to spend our energy putting out and keeps us from focusing on the task at hand. Except in this case we are the ones setting the fires through our lack of discipline and lack of focus. Not smart imo!

Ok, I'll bite. What are the total public expenditures in the crowded counties versus the rural counties?

Fewer jobs? I don't know one employer who doesn't have vacancies

What if the "red" county sheriffs just set-up at a range in their county for the next couple Saturdays and offer to check-off loading and firing a round to qualify them for the permit once the permit can be permitted- assuming this ends up hanging around as the procedure for a few years?
