We've had the Downey Woodpeckers really coming an going from the suet feeder. A lot of other birds too. Yesterday we got to see one of the little ones. I couldn't get to the camera in time to catch mom feeding it, This morning they were back but chose to fly up out of camera sight to feed. But I got a couple of shots of the two.

Terrible light, darn it!

After arising very early to wrangle (remotely for now) a most vexing technical problem with a government client in San Juan, I go outside to drink espresso and smoke a cigar. Then I found this cute little fellow slumbering in the yard. My wife and children found the picture I sent via phone a delight. :)

I think I just see this little fellow with mommy. I was out smoking a cigar and seeing the night sky. All of a sudden a doe came down the hill, followed by a cute little one. Momma stopped, noticed there was a human type and studied him, then bugged out down the hill, followed by a somewhat ungraceful little one. Wish I had my phone. So cute though. :)

Oh baby. I found this guy last year as a 5x5 but early snow kept me from getting to him in rifle season. Now I'm kind of glad. Bought a muzzleloader off a member on here to go after him earlier this year.

This is him compared to a blacktail doe standing in almost the same spot with the same camera position:

I'm pretty sure this is the same bull from my previous post above, from last year. The one of him above is from June 10 this year. The first one in this post is from June 4 last year. Second two are from mid July. If it's him, a year made an unbelievable difference. Y'all think it's the same one?

This is Sylvester
He does not much care for these uncivilized wild animal photos

Did you say something to piss him off? We had a cat that when he got angry, like if you were to, say, bug him a little with your foot? He'd make this little yaaap sound. IF you mimicked him he'd go all ape crazy on your shoe. HE had a face like that. Black/white too.

This juvenile Swainson's Hawk was hanging out on our deck and letting us know he's bigger than he really is. I found him being harassed by the goats out in the field a couple days later and picked him up and set him on a post. Seems pretty tame, but I did stay away from that beak.
