If people are avoiding their obligations by not reporting purchases, then I think a better solution would be to have the seller send a report to their state, rather than trying to collect appropriate taxes at the point of sale. Some areas have a morass of state, municipal, and various other taxes and tariffs that make it impossible for an internet retailer to make sure that they are complying.

Then if the state really wants its pound of flesh, they can make the effort to get it.

For now, it won't affect me.

Every Item sold out there has had at least 20 taxes ALREADY PAID FROM RAW MATERIALS TO SHIPMENT OF FINAL PRODUCT.
we're already taxed to poverty.
Just the logistics of knowing every states tax laws would cause many online retailers to just quit.
The damned Gov will destroy ecommerce completely, but they like to destroy free enterprise anyway.
greedy btards.

jeezz, why must they feel the need to tax everything to death? oh ya! gotta feed the monster.... scr*w the goverment!!!!!
because we sheeple do do nothing about it. There are so many people so few government. For example how many gun owners voted for Obama? How many gun owners don't vote. How many gun owners don't $upport por second amendment causes ? How many voters just vote on name recognition and never do at least a minimum of study on the issues/

I buy a lot of firearm repair parts that local shops dont have and get them fast. Locals ordering them would add a couple weeks to the process.
Add more taxes and I would most likely not buy any of it and just buy a milling machine and lathe.

You'll find after buying the milling machine & lathe that making your own parts takes a lot of time & you still hafta buy the raw materials plus the tooling.

I have found owning a lathe & milling machine is really more use in making expensive or hard to find parts, and even then only if you have the time to stand there & do it

I have found that owning a lathe and milling machine for making my own parts only works if using them is a form of entertainment, rather than making/saving money. :D

Did it for 35 yrs. That is just hobby time now and would actually be fun. Still have all the raw materials & tooling to last my lifetime. If they tax the net, most small businesses there will go away anyway. Many just on principle. Let alone logistics.

I can't believe our money gets taxed 15-20 times, right up until the moment we spend it and the government STILL spends 3 dollars for every dollar it takes in.

I rarely shop online anyway. Having a Walmart in your area is the equivalent of a $2/hr. wage increase for those of us not independently wealthy. Since the closest Walmart is 30 miles+ each way, I guess I only get a $1.50 increase. Thank God for the jobs and money saved by Walmart, no matter what liberal business owners that want you to pay 3-5x the value of something so that they can live the high life and you can "feel" like you helped the little guy. The little guy gets helped with jobs and milk that doesn't break the bank. Capitalism saved us before, why does everyone think Socialism will save us this time around? Is it because of how well it worked in the USSR?

Then, I guess I will have to stop buying online....

Me and two million other people! That should shock the economic pillars!!

If you want to buy anywhere, might be a good idea to spread your saving out a bit.
Looks like this is next.
