Senate bill 5112 is worded exactly the same as House bill 1016 as it was the companion to 1016. Companion bills are sometimes created to help a bill get passed quicker. But in this case it was jsut a waste of time. Bill 5112 is now dead forever.
House bill 1016 goes to the Senate Judiciary for a hearing on 3/9/11 at 1:30 pm. The normal course of a bill like this is to start out in the House (or Senate), go through the appropriate committee, then to the Rules committee where they may or may not send it for a vote on the House floor. Then it goes through the same process in the Senate. At any time it could die in one of the four committees that need to take action on it, or get voted down on the floor.
This legislature stuff can be frustrating to research if one {me} doesn't know the system....
Am I correct in saying the Senate Judiciary gave it a "do pass" so now it will go to a Rules committee?
