If you see how the median yellow line moves up and down

I'd like to know more about who devised that yellow median that wanders all over the place.

Roberts is another Earl Warren. Ike once said Warren was his biggest mistake. When being considered for appointment, all of these jokers probably tell fairy tales about what their positions are, how they'd rule, etc. For a number of reasons, it's nearly always more difficult to uphold a conservative position than it is to sleaze and slouch into a liberal one. Just consider the two definitions. It's more difficult to live a life that is defined by stricter standards than it is to live one based on easy standards.

Here's the range of future possibilities for SCROTUS... For optimism, we'll assume Trump is reelected, all of these are before end of second term and all are firebreathing conservatives.

Current Court: 4-1-2-2. Four Commie garbage, 1 switch-hitting Chief Justice who always takes whichever side gives him most "legislate from bench" power, two untrustworthy at-best-semicons (Gorsuch and Kavanaugh), and two real conservatives.
Post-RBG: 3-1-2-3. If Roberts can strongarm Gorsuch or Kav to side with the Left on any given case, 5-4 with the doors blown open against us. If not, 6-3 nominally ours but so narrowly tailored it's as useless as a castrato's trousersalami. That's the BEST case, worst is one of the Ruesome Twosome flips making it 4-1-1-3.

Post-Thomas: Status unchanged.

Post-Sotomayor: At this point we're looking at a nominal 2-1-2-4, but my bet is Gorsuch and Kav would both move Left "to preserve balance" and Roberts finally rips the mask off revealing himself to be Zombie Earl Warren.

So we really need THREE replacements between the Left, Roberts (Damn you, Bush Leaguers!) and the Switches, plus a Thomas replacement to ensure we KEEP his seat. Unfortunately, thanks to Trump we're gonna be stuck with the two Switches for a long time...

I thought I invented the irreverent acronym, "SCROTUS" but maybe not. Nobody has a crystal ball, but all of these scenarios have a high plausibility factor.

Back in the late 80's I LITERALLY invented the acronym, "HUBS" for "Head Up Butt Syndrome" (a term we threw around quite a bit back then) to expedite military conversations. It stuck, and in a few weeks you'd hear it being used throughout the entire battalion.

Imagine my pride when (years later) I heard someone else (a "young pup") use that acronym, and they told me they picked it up from their time in the Army.

Where Antifa kitties hurt someone?

OregonLive says it was in the back;

Bud if you've read what happened you would know better, unless you're posting in bad faith.

My comprehension appears vastly superior to your propagandistic misinterpretations.

If you don't like the Oregonian, try this: Blake Hampe: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Blake Hampe is the suspect who was arrested in the stabbing of a Black videographer who was documenting the Portland protests for a conservative media group. Hampe, 43, was charged by Portland Police with felony assault. The victim, Drew Duncomb, is recovering in a hospital.

Claims that Hampe previously faced child pornography charges and alleged ties to Antifa were not validated by officials. In 2008, Bangor Daily News reported a man named Blake D. Hampe, 30, was convicted of child pornography possession and sentenced to 41 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release.

Not really....

Back in the late 80's I LITERALLY invented the acronym, "HUBS" for "Head Up Butt Syndrome"

Starting in the 1970's, I converted the noun a$$hole into an adjectival form, "a$$holic." A couple of people said, "That's not a word." My Weisenheimer brother-in-law told me, "You're saying it wrong. You pronounce it, "as-SAHL-ic." Not, "a$$-HOLE-ic." I guess he thought he'd invented the word. Maybe there is such a thing as spontaneous creation, where people unconnected to each other just kind of come up with the same thing about the same time. I'd never heard anyone say "a$$holic" before I started using it, but very likely my considered novelty was delusional. It had probably already been "invented" who knows how many times over the years.

But imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I've heard it said. I can't say it isn't satisfying to hear co-workers and other people repeat words by usage that I've brought into conversations for their first time.

To those who say, "That's not a word," any word is "real" if it's in usage.

Don't forget the proverbial "askhole" who eats up your time with a bazillion questions for your opinion, then habitually does the exact opposite of what you said. o_O

That's my dad.... he's in his mid 70's and lives in a broke-dik 5th wheel trailer, I own a 7-bedroom 3-bath house that'll be paid off in less than 4-yrs from now.... so, yeah. ;)

Whatcha gonna do....

My grandpa used an earlier variant, "Cranio-Rectal Insertion" in his 1950s-60s USAF career including as a Master Sergeant.

So does that indicate the other judges have already made up their minds before hearing the cases? That is more troubling than a judge who won't play within political party lines.

I want anti-gun laws struck down as much as the next guy, but I also want truly unbiased courts. Probably too much to ask on both counts these days.
Who the bubblegum do you think you are with your completely rational and truly patriotic point of view?!?

Said this before. Gonna repeat.
The job of the Federal SCOTUS is to determine if a law passed by Congress is constitutional or not.

The District Courts have the same job but on a State/District level.

Not twist the Constitution or redefine it to make the laws "legal"

Massive judicial and legislative reform needs to happen to get back to the Founders' vision for America.

Agreed! Give that they each seem to be given to their ideals and party affiliations, it would seem "Rulings" are already set long before any arguments are heard! The biggest worry is activists justices who rule from the bench on emotions or in the case of RGB, activists, feminist agenda counter to the constitution! What should be, a justice blind to any outside influence, is not the reality we have! And as we have seen with Roberts most recently, he is given to the politics of the time, AND, seems afraid of making history, instead of living it as if it's pre determined! This all creates a dangerous president, making the constitution into a living document subject to the wins and vagaries of the times!:eek::eek:
+
Do you actually believe Trump is a "...dangerous president...", or did you intend to use the word "...precedent..."? Thanks.
