Makes good points.

Has a good rebuttal (that I just used) for when someone says "we register cars and require drivers licenses and insurance"; and when/how has doing that reduced the incidence of drunk/distracted driving deaths?

Interesting point inside considering C&R for the AR15 - in a few years it will be on the C&R list, at least those manufactured 50 years ago will?

IIRC, modern replicas of C&R's are still considered C&R's

Sadly, no. From the ATF (emphasis added):

To be recognized as C&R items, 478.11 specifies that firearms must fall within one of the following categories:

Firearms which were manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas of such firearms;

Firearms which are certified by the curator of a municipal, State, or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; and

Any other firearms which derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare, bizarre, or because of their association with some historical figure, period, or event.

The article didn't mention massive non-compliance, nor comparing how "prohibition" worked out... all it'll do is create a black market for hard-core gun runners. ;)
