Personally, I don't care how many rounds have been "down the pipe" of a used gun. As long as the weapon is well maintained, reasonably clean and not simply worn out. Old is okay (and I'm glad my girlfriend agrees).
I do believe, however, there's been a significant trend for awhile now for people to buy weapons "off the grid," without any of that that intrusive background investigation bullsh*t (especially with recent random delays - a buddy of mine waited 2 months last year for no good reason).
That deal you just made with "a guy in the parking lot at Home Depot" is nobody's business. New/used gun in your collection? It doesn't exist. At least not at your address. New and relatively unused? Sure, that claim (while impossible to verify) appeals too.
