There's so many groups that want my money claiming to be fighting for our 2A rights but when measure 114 was coming up for a vote who actually spent their money to fight it? We lost because we spent next to nothing while the other side spent nearly $3 million dollars to win by 1%.
Who's actualy going to be bringing the heat when they pass 2005 and 348? I want to contribute but not to some group that isn't actually going to be making legal challenges.

That's a good question. From the little that I have researched GOA and FPC seem to be two of the best groups fighting for us. But what about all the big gun manufactures like S&W, Glock, Beretta, etc., what are they doing to help fight these unconstitutional laws? The gun grabbers have their daddy warbucks Bloomberg to give them millions to disarm us.

Indeed.

Most of the big companies are just fine selling only to police and military and govt contracts

It would be nice if someone like Elon Musk.. heck, even Trump... would bankroll these lawsuits against 2A... but... I don't know how much I'd trust someone like Musk to be pro2A if he's never actually had 2A rights where he came from..?

Silent Majority Foundation out of Pasco for Washington State. They've been working on writing up the case documents to file within minutes after Inslee signs them into law. And they're a 501(c)(3), so any donations are tax deductible!!

As I see it....the trouble is that......

The legislature has "NO PROBLEM" with passing "UNCONSITUTIONAL LAWS". Strike one down and they'll just make another.

Aloha, Mark

I don't have numbers proof to back it up, and I don't agree with everything they put out, but when it comes to attacking anti 2A legislation, in Oregon, OFF seems to be almost rabid about it.

Indeed.

Why on earth would you want Glock, Smith&Wesson, or any other gun manufacturer driven into insolvency?

So far GOA has stopped m114 using the strategy of the state constitution track, not federal. So they are the ones who have been effective so far. They filed the Harney county case.

The OSSA/NSSF/NRA has clement, the lawyer who won the Bruen case, on Board. So that is promising for the future imo. They are one of the groups suing on the federal track. Federal track is on hold due to Harney county court injunction. Clement is extremely well respected by scotus and is a darn sharp individual.

Re OFF, some people might get mad at me for saying this but OFF hired a child molester defense specialist attorney for their m114 case. Then they got into a feud with them over $66k in supposed attorney fees owed. After that there was another public example where they said in court that the gun control effort was part of a United Nations conspiracy, which prompted a judge to make a harsh reply. Please don't take my word for it, all this stuff is easy to google. I have nothing against OFF and fromwhat I understand they are on our side and promoting gun rights. I just think they need to stay out of the courts as that is not their bailiwick.

All imo and please feel free to research for yourself or ignore any or all.

SAF and FPC are two others that are extremely active nationwide. I don't know about their activities in OR re m114 so maybe someone else can chime in on those two orgs if they know anything about their activity re m114.

Good to know about OFF, thanks for sharing your insight.

Do you know if GOA has an Oregon office/newsletter? I thought I subscribed a long time ago and I think I've only gotten maybe two in a couple years.

I rarely get actual mail from them, not sure how often it is. Maybe quarterly? It's not Oregon specific more just asking for money. They do send out emails though.

FPC sends out emails quite often. Here is one from this morning about a new fed bill to ban suppressors (including possession!).

Last year, I received maybe 3 or 4 Firearm right groups I have never heard of.
I have been cautious from emails over the last year as so many bogus ones.
I am not sure whom to trust anymore. I have paid GOA, NRA and OFF. Over the years.
Maybe what is needed is organization transparency ? So people know what the donations
are spend on.
Last year with 114, I did nothing in the way of donations. But did go by word of mouth to
anyone that would listen.
So I am also confused on 114 at the current time. Is there a thread in this group explaining the breakdown this year?
My first posting here.
Thank you for listening.

My weekly update is below. Can only fit so much on a one page handout, so took some of the explanations out of the HB2005 paragraph to make room for the new stuff on HB2572 this week. Will have a dedicated page for updates on the OFF website early next week and will be able to go into more detail there.

Status of Oregon Gun Control Bills as of 5/05/2023

Senate Bill 348 replaces most of Measure 114. The bill makes Measure 114 even worse with a mandatory 3 day waiting period to receive a firearm you purchased, a 60 day wait for a background check, and increasing the cost of a purchase permit to $150. The changes are too numerous to list here. The bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee with a "do pass" recommendation with subsequent referral to Ways and Means. The 3-day hold and retroactive standard capacity magazine ban go into effect immediately when signed.

House Bill 2005 passed in the House and is in the Senate. HB-2005 makes it illegal to possess an unmarked/unregistered firearm. Possession, sale, transfer, or import of 80% lowers or frames without a serial number becomes illegal. Makes it illegal for anyone under 21 to possess a semi-auto firearm of any type. Allows any local government entity to restrict carry of firearms by CHL holders in any government buildings and nearby areas, including parks and private businesses.

House Bill 2572
is active again and in the House Committee on Rules. The bill is a confusing mishmash about private individuals directing traffic, wearing military type uniforms, and training as a militia. The authors say there are no criminal penalties. However, once defined as an unlawful militia, prosecution is possible under other statutes. Basically, if three or more people get together, they can be called an unlawful militia. There are enough loopholes for directed prosecution that it seems that the left probably won't be eating their own with this law. A public hearing was held on 5/4 and the bill is expected to pass to the floor for a vote.

Senate Bill 393
forces a 3 day hold on receipt of a firearms AFTER the sale is approved by Oregon State Police. This has been passed to the Senate Judiciary Committee. One version has the 3-day hold effective on passage and the other has a 91-day delay. Either version could be adapted.

Senate Bill 527 allows retailers to refuse the sale of ammunition and components to those under 21 and refusal of gunsmithing services without fear of age discrimination lawsuits. On 4/3, passed out of Senate Judiciary Committee to the floor with a "do pass" recommendation.

Measure 114 lawsuits
There are currently two lawsuits. One was brought by Oregon Firearms Federation, four Oregon Sheriffs, and two Oregon gun shop owners. The lawsuit has since been joined by lawsuits from Second Amendment Foundation, Firearms Policy Coalition, and National Shooting Sports Foundation (NRA). Federal trial is scheduled for June 5th through 9th. The second lawsuit was brought by Gun Owners of America, Gun Owners Foundation, and two individuals. The Judge issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against implementation of measure 114. This trial is scheduled for September 18th through the 22nd in Harney County Circuit Court. With new laws in the works, we don't know if these lawsuits can move forward or if the TRO will remain in effect.

Write and call your legislators and urge them to do whatever is necessary to stop these bills.

It's likely that the worst of these unconstitutional bills will pass and our only recourse is to sue the state. These lawsuits cost money and it's vital that we give what we can.

Your donations are vital to maintaining our second amendment rights.

Interesting read.
Seems all this was just a long plan. Many anti-gun law makers swore laws like these would never get a pass by them.
I hope people learn, although perhaps way to late. There is no such thing as common sense gun legislation.
We all remember SB841, was sold as the solution to end guns getting into the wrong hands.
As we know, it simply tightened the noose.

I am however confused. Can a firearm be bought the old way still?
Or is the pending rulings, put this on hold?
Thanks
