I forgot to add that like many wild animals, they'll be on a Northern slope if it's warm out. They'll be in the shade. The hens tend to nest on a Northern slope because they nest Spring to early Summer. The Toms are anywhere because the hens have run them off. It's really funny to watch the hens attack the toms after mating. I mean, persona non grata for the rest of the year. You might see 3 or 4 hens attack a tom. I might see 15 or 20 turkeys in a flock and they are all hens and jakes. When I see toms (except during Spring mating,) there are 2 - 4 of them in a group and they don't hang with jakes either.
