Is there a chance that the Secret Service is allowing the securty lapses on purpose?

Is it bad publicity to shoot someone on the Whitehouse lawn? Or good publicity to show how the right wing nutjobs are a danger to the country? Or, do they think Biden would do a better job? Or are they really just slipping?

After a long string of scandals that embarrassed the Secret Service, it's being announced that Director Pierson has resigned:
"Today Julia Pierson, the Director of the United States Secret Service, offered her resignation, and I accepted it. I salute her 30 years of distinguished service to the Secret Service and the Nation," Johnson said in a statement. "As an interim Acting Director of the Secret Service, I am appointing Joseph Clancy, formerly Special Agent in Charge of the Presidential Protective Division of the Secret Service. Mr. Clancy retired from the Secret Service in 2011. I appreciate his willingness to leave his position in the private sector on very short notice and return to public service for a period."
This is after it appears that she was caught lying in Congressional testimony about notifying the president after a felon with a gun was accidentally allowed to ride an elevator with him a few weeks ago
