Kimber .45 cocked and locked and 100% comfortable carrying like that.
all other DA autos chambered with safety off if they have a one.
I dont carry any revolvers (dont own any) but I think the empty cylinder thing is a good idea for those with no hammer block.

Glocks full mag with round chambered (always check that repeated clearings and
chamberings do not force bullets into their cases, or use a fresh round for each
one). My 1911A1 is in condition one always. Yep wheel guns, not single action
also full when carried.

Glock 19, loaded and chambered.
My argument is I'm not very good at chambering a round one handed.

I'm not sure what the circumstances will be should I ever be forced to draw my weapon, but one scenario that has crossed my mind is being in an altercation/fist fight and anyone who's been in a brawl knows that you end up wrestling within the first few punches being thrown.
I wouldn't want to be in a situation where I could reach my Glock, but basically not be able to use it because it wasn't ready.

For a while this year I didn't get to the range as often as I wanted. I went a full 6 months with the weapon cocked and the same round in the chamber.

When it came to the first range visit after that period, it was reassuring to know that even if left in that state, the weapon functions flawlessly. My standard practice is to use my carry magazine as the first magazine down range, before switching to regular range ammo.
When I leave the range, my spare carry mag goes in, and a round is chambered until I get home and clear and clean the weapon. I then rechamber the round that had been chambered on the way home from the range and I'm good to go until the next time.

Another point is time.

If you can unholster your weapon, chamber a round, acquire the target and pull the trigger in less time than it takes someone to cover 7 yards, then more power to you. Carry how you like.

Personally, I'm not that quick, so I eliminate a step to give me more time.

I also try to do most of my defensive shooting range practice at 10 yards instead of the typical 7 yards for personal defence. They say a man can cover 7 yards in 2 seconds. I can cover almost 10, and I'm sure many others can too.

Taurus 24/7 cocked/locked and Keltec PF9 BUG one in the tube.

Yes you can draw and rack the slide pretty fast, but with one hand defending a punch or guarding your wife/children, you need all the time you can get.

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." (President George W. Bush)

CARRY ONE IN THE PIPE DANG IT!!! :bash:

Whats the point of carring a unloaded gun do people feel that they have time to load and make ready when most barly have time to react ??? Cocked locked only way to go or dont at all....

Beacause I always roll like in the movies.. If I see a badguy I always follow these steps.
1. say something cool!
2. take one last drag off my smoke before trowing it to the side!
3. Draw my weapon.....
4. Rack my slide!
5. say something else cool!!!!!
5. pull the trigger..

This has almost always worked.

I stand corrected :huh::huh:

LOL... plus if you are REALLY legit and "with it" these days, you'll also loose time by having to pull your pants up from below the crack of your arse! ;)

BTW- Since 1987, my Beretta 92F has ALWAYS been carried (and stored) locked & loaded (safety on) in my leather Bianchi X15 verticle shoulder holster with nary an issue.

ORbit, Please do not continue to rechamber that same round time
after time!!! The bullet will sometimes set back into the cartridge
case, driving the presures upwards. I suspect some of the KaBooms
with Glocks could be a possible factor with the partial supported
chambers.
Gang signs? Guess this area is on top of things, or lucky. So far
no signs of that right now. Population density being low, it would
pretty well stand out, and be taken care of. Again maybe not, as
there is the same drug problem as everywhere else!:s0131:

Who is trafficking the drugs? There is a gang or someone behind each of those dealers. We got our share in the PDX Metro, thanks to the influx from CA, running from fire, and the 3-strike rule.

Where ever you find profit, you find someone ready to collect. I'm sure
most anything on a scale is releated to organized crime in some form.
And yeah, much comes over the south boarder. Meth is everywhere
cause it's cheap and easy to make without a bunch of equipment. Most
recent gottcha came from over the Kalif. side with a LOT of maryjane
being harvested by the LEOs. It being grown by a Hmung family on this
side of the line, while they lived on the other side.:D
