Also in terms of choosing barrel length, here is a graph showing ft lb of energy by barrel length (use the blue line). This is for supersonic rounds, not subs. Also keep in mind shorter barrel lengths = more blast, flash, and concussion than longer lengths. I can't speak to reliability of different lengths of 300 BLK cuz I don't know enough about it. Maybe someone here can chime in on that. I Apologize for messy chart. I keep adding stuff to it ha ha.
Mags are the same (thus the need to make sure to keep separate from .223).

Also a reminder that the PSA upper you linked earlier is not a complete upper.
Thank you for the follow-up. I been reading about a week now on the 300 blackout. It came out that the 7 and the 9 is perfect for home and "above medium range" using 150 grain. This might be ideal for me because my AR-15 is a 16.5 and it can far and accurate enough. I'm trying to contact the PSA just to make sure what else I need to compete and get this shipped to me. Thank you for the follow-up again. It made it easier.

I really like the little Makarovs. I have an East German, a CZ82, and a Polish P64. They all shoot great.

I know a lot of people don't shoot Makarov as much since 9x18 ammo isn't as cheap and plentiful as it was at one time, but I make my own. Brass is very quick and easy to make from 9x19 that litters the ground at the range, free for the picking, and I cast and powder coat bullets from the scrap lead that litters the berms. I think I loaded up about 500 rounds the last time I did 9x18 a couple years ago; about time to do some more before too long.

I'm thinking of a SW or Ruger revolver lately.
But I got side tracked by a thought recently.
Semi auto.22WMR rifle….. I don't know where that thought came from.

My first google search ROSSI has one

I impulse purchased a beretta 950 vest pocket pistol yesterday, it is .22 short.
Ridiculous pea shooter but was cheap and in really nice condition.
I was picking up another impulse buy revolver at the time.

My mad money envelope has gotten a bit thin as of late. 😮

I NEED a Marlin 1895 Guide Gun in .357 Mag or .45-70.

Looking at picking up a cva acout in 45-70. Wonder what the recoil on that light a rifle will be.
I have one and find that Trap-door level loads are pleasant but when using lever gun loads the recoil can be a bit abrupt. I haven't tried the tier 3 loads. I think they aren't rated for the top loads anyway.

I'd not be inclined to shoot "Level 3" loads out of a gun like that. Not because of the recoil, which would be nasty, but because that's a lot of force on a hinged action. I used a Browning 1885 (B78) and made loads that were right at the top of #2-bottom of #3. A 400gr bullet at 2000+ fps is nothing to sneeze at and you'd better be sure of what you're sticking that cartridge into!
Trapdoor loads seem to recoil about like a 2 3/4" 12 gauge.

I am not into pain I am certain a good level 2 load would be sufficient. I have only ever fired one 45-70 round out of a really light thompson contender and it was not a light load. It left an impression on me mentally and physically. The guys that gave it to me sure thought it was funny. Come to find out thats how they used to break the new guys in. Dont shoot with them anymore.
