The final version of the bill voted on (according to snopes) contained provisions to maintain the second amendment and leave the US citizens rights intact.

I always thought it gave Signatory Nations a way to restrict certain weapons from importation and, that was the real issue.

Ok, so let me start by saying I hate the UN, and my whole point in playing devils advocate here is because these are the arguments I face among my peers.

Once we start allowing the UN to establish even a meaningless peace of international control we begin the surrender of our sovereignty as a Nation to an international organization rather than the unresponsive representative republic we currently have.
