HOORAY - 53-46 vote

Now, Which 46 Senators Voted to Destroy Us? Well, let their names become known !! See below
In a 53-46 vote, the Senate narrowly passed a measure that will stop the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. The Statement of Purpose from the Bill reads: "To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty." The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S. and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry, now get this, on all private guns and ammo.
Astonishingly, 46 out of our 100 United States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power.
Here are the 46 senators who voted to give your rights to the U.N.

Then Jack, here is your link... <broken link removed>

Still, I don't like Snopes.... :s0131:

I always thought it gave Signatory Nations a way to restrict certain weapons from importation and, that was the real issue.

Thanks Dune :)

So at first glance the highlight shows this

KEY U.S. REDLINES IN THE NEGOTIATIONS

The Second Amendment to the Constitution must be upheld.

There will be no restrictions on civilian possession or trade of firearms otherwise permitted by law or protected by the U.S. Constitution.

There will be no dilution or diminishing of sovereign control over issues involving the private acquisition, ownership, or possession of firearms, which must remain matters of domestic law.

The U.S. opposed provisions inconsistent with existing U.S. law or that would unduly interfere with our ability to import, export, or transfer arms in support of our national security and foreign policy interests.

The international arms trade is a legitimate commercial activity, and otherwise lawful commercial trade in arms must not be unduly hindered.

There will be no requirement for reporting on or marking and tracing of ammunition or explosives.

There will be no lowering of current international standards.
Existing nonproliferation and export control regimes must not be undermined.

The ATT negotiations must have consensus decision making to allow us to protect U.S. equities.

There will be no mandate for an international body to enforce an ATT.

Ok, so let me start by saying I hate the UN, and my whole point in playing devils advocate here is because these are the arguments I face among my peers.

On the surface this looks harmless...I know the devil has to be in the details. But where?

For me, Jack is the camel's nose under the tent. Once we start allowing the UN to establish even a meaningless peace of international control we begin the surrender of our sovereignty as a Nation to an international organization rather than the unresponsive representative republic we currently have.

As one of the forum members on another forum I frequent uses as his sig line, "Give them an inch and they Will become a Ruler!"

Everyone: You won't believe this vote !!! Can you imagine anyone voting for this – let alone 46 democratic senators !!! Pass this on ..Please

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!
PLEASE READ ON?
THEN, PLEASE PASS IT ON!

HOORAY – A 53-46 vote
The U.N. Resolution 2117 lists 21 points dealing with firearms control, but perhaps of most interest is point number 11:
"CALLS FOR MEMBER STATES TO SUPPORT WEAPONS COLLECTION and DISARMAMENT of all UN countries".
By a 53-46 vote - The U.S. Senate voted against the U.N. resolution. HOORAY.
This is that brief, glorious moment in history when everyone stands around...reloading.
